Our dearest Annie

Today has been a very difficult day for many people...A dear friend and old co-worker of mine when I worked for Homeline passed away suddenly last night. I got the call around 9:15 this morning from one of my best friends Tracy that our friend Anne had been feeling ill the day before and went home early, only to have her husband find her lifeless later on that evening. When the words were first said, my ears seemed clogged. It was almost as though I was underwater and the words she was saying were muffled and far away. I could hear the tremble in her voice and I knew that something was wrong, but I just could not understand what she was trying to tell me. I kept telling her to calm down and there must be a mistake. I remember asking "have they checked on her again? Are they sure? This can't be!!" As I write that one part, the tears start to come. I can feel them spilling out as I try to blink them away..

To know Anne Badham was a special thing. She was a ONE of a kind gal that did not take much from anyone and sometime had a waaaaaay tough exterior, she let few people into her caring side, but if you ever got to know that "Annie", it was a blessing. She cared for the people around her and although she would tell you in a heartbeat to "suck it up and get on with it" you knew that from Annie, that was with love. :) She would stop by my office on her way to the kitchen almost every time she would walk by. Just a "Hey honey, how ya doing" and then back to her cubby. :)

Some things about Annie that make me smile...

1. The infamous RED cup with the built-in straw that she carried to every meeting or just anywhere in the office. :)
2. They way, she, Tracy and I would sit in my office and look at menus for what we were having for lunch that day and sometimes we would start that as soon as we got there in the morning. :)
3. When she would leave and go home and night and tell us she was going home to dye her hair and she would come to work this next morning, with a TOTALLY dif shade of color to the roots.. ;)
4.Riding to lunch with her and if you got stuck in the backseat, you were deafened by the sound of talk radio because she had it faded to the back and turned waaaaaay up so she could hear it in the front. I never could get her to understand that you could fade it to the front. ;)
5. Her favorite cookies from Atlanta Bread company :)
6. The way that once she opened a book and started to read it, she HAD to finish it, even if she did not like it, she would READ the whole book because she started it. :)
7. Listening to her talk about growing up and the things she did.
8. The time she fussed @ me and Tracy about her pictures.
9. The way she would carry her purse and put all of her stuff in it and it would be busting at the seams with her books and wallet and everything she would stuff in it. She finally got a bigger purse. :)
10. My scarf she got me for Christmas. :)
11. The way she would copy a menu from a restuaraunt and circle and write on it what she wanted so that when we got there, she could just hand them the paper instead of trying to explain her special instructions. ;0) This was something Tracy and I would always get tickled about at lunch. ;)
12. It was Annie that got me started on the infamous Kona Mocha's when she and Tracy took me there and Anne said "You HAVE to try it". :)
13. When she brought some of her strange foods in for lunch and the whole office knew if it smelled icky, it was Annie's lunch.
14. She always had a book in her hand.. :)
15. The time she looked me right in my eyes and told me "I don't blame you for forgiving him, and making your family work" That is one thing that has always stuck in my mind and now it is even more special. :)

I still cannot believe it. It still seems like a dream. I just knew she would be down here soon to visit her family in Birminham and we would be able to meet up and her tell me all about the area. I will never pass another Barnes and Noble without thinking of Annie. I am so glad that Tracy convinced her to take pictures when she did.

I love you Annie..You are so precious to my heart. I know you are in a better place and if you run into my mom and dad somewhere on those shiny streets of gold, tell them to be good to you... You were good to thier little girl..

Almost ready to go!

Wow....So it has been a few days since my last post.. We are trying to get settled in the new house! They finally delivered the rest of our stuff this week so we are all settled and ready to go.. The girls start school on Thursday which is a day later than all thier friends back home. They are super excited, that they get an extra day of summer.. ;0) Mom is ready for school to start back, this summer has been soooooooo crazy with the move into the apt and then here. I am so ready for a routine, its not even funny.

This weekend is the tax free weekend and let me tell you, these people in Birmingham SHOP!! I stood in 1 line for over an hour and contemplated putting everything back and coming back next week, but i just kept thinking if I stick it out, it will all be over soon!!! I got the girls backpacks in the same color just different designs and I found a lady that monograms in Mountain Brook. I am supposed to take the bags to her tomorrow and she says she can have them back by Wed afternoon, which is perfect since school starts Thursday! The only thing I have left to buy is lunch bags and I know exactly where I can buy those in Huntsville, just not here. :0( Those are not quite a necessity just yet, as the girls will probably buy thier lunch for a few days.. We are really ready to go as far as school starts so that is something to be HAPPY about. :0)

We went to the new dealership yesterday and went in and looked around. This was the first time that Steve or I had been INSIDE the building. Everything is in really good shape and we are so ready to get it open so that we can know how its going to go.

Thats really about all for us now, I really should be unpacking and putting things where they need to go instead of blogging! ;0)
