It's almost time

I hope all of you are enjoying Christmas with your families and snuggled up somewhere warm. :) It is really not as cold as I thought Christmas Eve should be, but I can't complain about that!

Yesterday, our pastor's wife and I finished up our shopping at our local mall. We had the best time just chitchatting and having a girls day! I love love this woman and she has been so precious to me since we have joined that church. I am grateful for our friendship!
I am glad Christmas is almost here and will soon be over. It will be nice to get back to normal.
Thanks again for all of your sweet comments and bloggy lovin! I hope each and everyone of you have a wonderful Christmas! :0)

Picture Post

So this will be mostly a picture post. I wanted everyone to know I was still alive over here. These are pictures from Taylor's cheerleading competition at the University of Alabama and of our church workers/leaders Christmas party.

I have been staying busy, which has helped me alot. We had the Christmas parade this past weekend and I have to say I am so happy with the way it turned out. I was not as into the Christmas spirit as the float coordinator should have been but with the help of wonderful people and lots of their hard work, it was a success. I have a couple of pics I will try to post later.

I have to finish up my Christmas shopping tomorrow. Our pastor's wife and I plan to get some done tomorrow and plan to have some "girl time". I am super excited! :)

Speaking of shopping, before I forget, I found a new grocery store this weekend. I am not sure if any of you have ever heard or have shopped at an ALDI grocery store before. We had heard about it from some people at church and I just had to go check it out. It is definitely a different shopping experience. You have to put a quarter into the buggy for it to unlock and let you take one and when you return the buggy after shopping, it spits your quarter back out. It is supposed to cut down on buggies being left in the parking lot AND there are not workers that bring the buggies in from the parking lot so it saves them that money as well. You also have to furnish your own grocery bags and BAG your own groceries. You unload your cart on the conveyor belt and the cashier rings them up and puts them in another buggy at the end of the register and after you pay, you take your bags (that you brought or you purchased from them for 5cents a bag) and you wheel over to a counter where you can bag your groceries at your own pace. It is a neat little place but it is not in my usual area, so we might just save it for special trips. I just wondered how many other folks had an ALDI in their area?

Mama said there'll be days like this...

Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this Mama said
(Mama said, mama said)
Mama said there'll be days like this,
There'll be days like this my Mama said

yep, thats exactly how I feel this days! Mama never said there would be weeks like this though, GEEZ!

Things are really about the same as they were the last time I blogged, nothing better, nothing worse. Nothing worse is something to be thankful for this Thursday! :0)

I have missed you all extremely and I have tried to still keep up on your blogs since they put a smile on my face and I need all the help I can get these days. I hope you are all having a wonderful holiday season and blessings are abounded in all of your lives. You all have made me laugh, cry and really realize that a bunch of girls can lean on each other even from states away and for each of you I am thankful and blessed.

I hope to resume blogging again when I can. Right now, nothing seems to be taking precedence over the gloom around here. It is all that consumes my mind from the moment I wake up until my head hits the pillow. It will pass though, I know it.

I love you all. :)

While I'm waiting

Isaiah 30:18
18 Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!

I have played this song over and over this morning. There is a peace in the lyrics......

How many of us truly do these things while we are waiting on God to bring calm to our storm? Not many..not even me most of the time. The Devil may take a valuable thing from me, but what he will not get is MY soul. I will not give him the satisfaction of thinking he has broken me. I am not broken. He might think I am but he does not have that control over me. I don't know what my family's future holds but I do know that while I am waiting to find out, I will serve him and worship him with a passion like no other before.

While I'm waiting - John Waller

I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painfu
lBut patiently, I will wait
I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait
I’m waiting
I’m waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I’m waiting on You, Lord
Though it’s not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting
I will serve You while I’m waiting
I will worship while I’m waiting on You, Lord

I thought it was over

How do you pick up when your life crumbles before your very eyes? I will not go deeply into what happened on Thanksgiving day 2008 but it is something that I thought we were behind.:( I have to now be a fighter. I pray that I make good Godly decisions to get me out of my situation.I pray that the person that did this will see what there is at stake to lose to maybe prevent them from going down this road any longer. My choice now is, Do I go along or when is enough enough? I am waiting on that reveal.....

A conversation with Emma

Emma: Momma, Is God a person?

Mom: No, he is more like a spirit. God is always there! You can always talk to God even when no one else is around. He never leaves you!

Emma: That is really neat of God.

Mom: Yeah, he is very neato!

Emma: Mom, does God sleep?

Mom: No honey, he doesn’t have to sleep, hes super hero like that.

Emma: When we get to heaven will we have to sleep?

Mom: Nah, I don’t think so.

Emma: Mom, I am ready to go to heaven when you are.

Mom says under breath.. Slow down sweet girl, you will go soon enough!

All I want for Christmas is NO WORD VERIFICATION!

So I am cursing Blogger at the moment because after going and trying to leave comment lovey on all my wonderful blogs, I feel like I could scream!! If I see 1 more ahytild or breced, I might just poke my eye out with this thermometer sitting on my desk! Yeah, sad I know? :0)

Just for the record, one thing I am not thankful for is COMMENT VERIFICATION!!

Not me Monday!

SO it is that time again! Time for Not me Monday and time to reveal all of the things I did not do this week! Go check out MckMama's blog for a chance to read what other folks did not do this week!!!!

1. I did not want to turn around and strangle the man that sat behind me on the plane from Memphis to Vegas because he felt the need to KICK the mess out of my seat about every 5 minutes the entire almost 4 hour flight.

2. I also did not try to think of ways I could trip said man when he went down the aisle to get off the plane just to teach him a lesson! ;0)

3. I did not want to punch a man's lights out when he kept trying to hand me a card with some escort services phone number on it while we were walking down the strip in Vegas. Seriously, I had no idea I looked like the kind that was looking for an escort while I was in town! YUCK!

4. I did not buy my child stationary and pencils yesterday in hopes she would entertain herself while I did housework! Sometimes, you got to pull out all the stops!

5. I did not buy a pair of $140 shoes at Macy's to wear to dinner one night and then decide since I only wore them on carpet and in the hotel, I could easily take them back for a refund as soon as I got back home. :0)

6. I did not sleep till 10am yesterday only to be told by my youngest "Mommy if you don't get up right now, I am going to walk to Krispy Kreme and get my own breakfast!" Nothing like that coming out of a 6yr old's mouth will make you spring out of the bed so fast! Yeah and we won't even go there in re: to the fact that my child thinks Krispy Kreme is our normal breakfast around here.

7. I also did not have the bank teller tell me "Wow! You must LOVE Krispy Kreme!!" When I went in to inquire about a charge on my debit card! What is it her business anyway where most of my debit purchases are for?!?!?! I did not give the teller a dirty look and contemplate saying LOUDLY " So, are you saying I'm fat?!?!?!"

So there you have it! So glad I did not do those things this week! :0)

Our trip to Las Vegas

First, let me start off by saying how happy I am to be home!!!! Vegas is wonderful and if I was not married with children, I could LIVE there! I know crazy right? I also said that about when we went to Chicago as well! I think I am a city girl trapped sometimes although where we are now is certainly NOT country!! I just love the BIG BIG cities! I love where the places you don't own a car because you either walk or take a cab. I love the high rise buildings and would love to live on the 50th story of a building somewhere with hardwoods and breathtaking city views! :0) I grew up on 1000 acres so maybe I just had enough of that as a child.. Who knows??

So, on to my post.. I get easily distracted!! ;0) We left out Sunday morning early! Our plane left at 6:20 so we got to the airport in plenty of time to pass thru security and wait on our plane to board. We flew from Hsv to Memphis and had a layover in Memphis for a couple of hours before boarding the plane to Las Vegas. I browsed around the shops and Steve and I found this WONDERFUL little bar-b-que place inside the airport. It was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too early for lunch in my book, but luckily they had a breakfast menu. The food and service was out of this world. I recommend it to anyone ever stopping in Memphis airport long enough to grab a bite to eat you have to stop there! The people were very friendly and we were sad when we realized that we would not be stopping back through on the way home to eat there again! :0( OH well! Again, if you are ever in Memphis airport stop by Interstate Barbecue. YUM!

After leaving Memphis we got to Vegas around noon Alabama time, which was 10am Vegas time. The shuttle took us from the airport to our hotel and our room was not ready yet, so we left our luggage at the bell desk and took off on foot down the strip. We didn't have anything to do really so we just walked and browsed in some of the stores. After a couple of hours, we came back to the hotel and got to our room. My jaw hit the floor as we opened the doors to our CORNER suite which had views on 2 different sides of the city. We got unpacked and checked out our surroundings and then it was off to find something to eat. :0) We walked down the strip again until we came to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. We sat outside on the 3rd floor patio and ordered our food. Our appetizers came out and they were DELICIOUS!! Then after sometime, our waitress came around for our food order. We sat there eating our appetizer and enjoying the view of Caesar's Palace and the strip below, when we finally realized we had not seen our waitress in some time. I looked at my watch and realized it has been an hour since we placed our food order! :0( 20 minutes later, our food finally got there and it was not good! My steak was dry and it seemed like it had been sitting back there most of the time we were out there waiting. I was really disappointed since our appetizers were so good. We decided to send it back and just be done. By that time, I was over being hungry and had ate enough of our appetizer for it to matter anyway.

We walked up and down the strip some more when we realized we could ride a double decker bus called The Deuce for $5 and we could ride it unlimited for 24 hours. That was the stuff, let me tell ya! There was stops in front of all the casinos and you could jump on and ride then jump off and walk awhile which was great for us since I think we walked 5 miles the first day with all the back and forth. So we bought our tickets and we had transportation if we wanted it just by going to one of the many bus stops. :)

After dinner, we went to the Bellagio and saw the water fountain show which was really neat! Then we found a starbucks and headed back to our room. It was almost midnight Vegas time by then so we were exhausted and called it a night. The next morning, Steve went to play golf with the owner of his dealership and I took off on foot and by bus to check out the city again with camera in tow! I had to do all the sightseeing all over again because the day before, I had left my camera in the room so I did not get any pictures during the day time! :( I spent all day just walking or riding down the strip. Later in the afternoon, I saw Madame Tussauds Wax museum and I knew I had to go in. Steve had meetings almost the whole next day and we had a reception that night so I was not sure when we would both be able to go so I decided to do it on my own! I am so glad I did! It was a neat experience and I would recommend it to anyone that goes to Vegas!! They also had a mini haunted house type thing inside and you could only go in 6 people at a time and of course I was praying I could find some sweet preferably women who would not mind if I clung to them the entire time I went through and sure enough, I went through with 2 other ladies that just took me right in with them and did not mind at all as I buried my face in their backs and almost trampled them on the way out! When you are being chased by people in masks and armed with weapons (yea, they were fake) who can blame you for trying to get the heck out of there! lol! The whole museum was really neat and I am so glad I went ahead and did it even if I did have to go solo!

After I got done at the museum, I took the bus back to our hotel and started getting ready for our reception down by the pool. Steve got back from playing golf and we both finished getting ready before we headed downstairs. The reception was nice, it was really alot of networking if you ask me. We had hors d'oeuvres and yummy ones at that I might add! ;0) After the reception we had tickets to go see Phantom at the Venetian hotel and casino! It was not really my idea of the kind of show I wanted to see while in Vegas but it was ok. I wanted to see Cirque de Solei and considering what we paid to see Phantom, I could have spent another $20 and seen it, but Oh well. We had some other people with us and that's what everyone wanted to see so why not? If you like that kind of theater, then it was wonderful, again just not my taste.

The next morning, Steve had meetings all day and I slept till 10am. I think between the time adjusting, plane ride and just all the walking had me wore out. I woke up and realized I had to be down stairs in time for the lunch with our convention. So I got up and ready, grrrr, I really wanted to go back to bed! ;0) I got downstairs when I realized I had left my credentials in the room and had to go back to get them, because they would not let you in without them. I got back down as they were breaking for lunch and found my hubby which was quite a challenge seeing as there was probably 1000 men walking around in suits! lol. We got something to eat and then walked around and saw the new cars that Kia will be debuting later this year or next spring. It was so neat so see them all and to see what was in store for us. :0) They will be coming out with their own sporty coupe as well and I am soooooooo ready for that one! Steve and I both said that we would be driving those as demos as soon as his store got theirs in. ;0)

After the lunch, we had some time to kill, until the dinner that night that would finish off all the meetings and kind of end the events. We walked over to Fashion Show mall which was huge and right across the street from our hotel. We walked around and I got Breaking Dawn again! I can't find the first one I bought! How sad is that? I was scared I would finish Eclipse on the plane and not have BD to start. lol!! We got my book and then on to Starbucks to get my gold card my dear friend JennyKate informed me of! I recommend them to anyone that loves Starbucks and you get a free tall drink of your choice. :) You can't beat that!!

Dinner was great and Frank Caliendo was our entertainment for the evening. I had no idea who he was until I got back to the room and googled him. I don't watch alot of comedy tv so that might have been why! After dinner, we headed to the casino and played PaiGow poker and the slots before we headed back to the room to pack since we were leaving at 4:30am for the airport. I think we got in the bed at almost 2am which was rough getting up a couple of hours later to leave but we made it. The plane ride home was peaceful, we changed planes in Atlanta and got home around 2pm where we picked up the girls and drove 2 hours home to Birmingham. I was so glad to see my house!!! We walked in and I remembered I had turned off everything including the heat, so it was 51 degrees downstairs and like 53 degrees upstairs. No one even wanted to change clothes, we were all so cold! ;0)

We got the girls settled, bathed and in the bed for school the next morning and it was 10pm. I don't even remember my head hitting the pillow! I was out!

We had a great time and I am glad to be home. I can't wait to catch up on everyone's happenings since I have been gone!! :0)

Just a few pics.......

It is super late early at our house and I should be in bed already since I have a FULL day of last minute packing and errands before we leave. I downloaded the concert pics off my camera and I have to say I had as many videos as I did pictures! I will try to post videos tomorrow for you to see how wonderful these 2 ladies were! I was just amazed at both of them and how wonderful they sound in person. (You know some people just don't sound good without some editing going on!) Anyway, here are some pics to hold you all over until I get the videos loaded! ;0) If you look closely at one of the pics toward the bottom, you will see Kelly, Reba and a blonde headed lady. THAT lady is "Barbara Jean" from the Reba TV show. She was on and off the stage all night being her silly self and pretending to be Reba's best friend! If you have ever watched the show, you know how silly "BJ" can be on there, well, she is just as funny in person!

Anyway, here are the pics! I am going to FALL into bed and pray the kids will sleep past 7 in the morning! ;0)

Oh and yes you have all noticed I have learned how to "strike" out a word and I am loving it! :)

Questions!!!

So I have a question for all you seasoned travelers out there! Do the aircards you use for your laptop work in flight? I know this is bad! I am wondering how in the world I can access Internet from 20,000 feet in the air or however high an airplane goes.... ;0) I have access to my email and actually Internet thanks to my wonderful crackberry blackberry, it is just not the same as having my wonderful laptop to use and get the full effect...

BTW, I am also itching to know how in the world McKmama and other snazzy bloggers cross out their words in a post. I just spent 25 minutes trying to figure it out and finally gave up!!

So, I started with 1 question and I am ending this post with 2. You know, the aircard thing and the cross out a word thing! Cmon girls, get your thinking caps on and help a sista out! I don't want to spend another hour on blogger trying and sure don't want to stay on hold at Verizon for the rest of the day!

Biggest Loser anyone?!?!?!

Ok, so I must know if any of you other folks are hooked on the Biggest Loser show like I am?!?!? I started watching last year when the Alabama football players were on there and I have been hooked ever since. I absolutely love Jillian and Bob! (I think Jillian is my fav though) :0) This season, my hubby and I have religiously DVRed every episode and watch usually the same night if not the very next day! We love it!!

Ok, so on to my point! IF any of you have been watching it, surely you have noticed all the DRAMA this season that I must not have noticed any last season? Is it just me or is this season full of the cattiness?? I really have my favorites, but there are some that I have threatened to boycott the show if they win.. :0( Here is my opinions on who is left at the ranch..

Ed - Well, I don't have to much to say for Ed other than hope he can grow a backbone to put his wife on the right path! I was pretty upset to see him come back in the game!

Heba - I think Heba is a joke! I really thought she was ok in the beginning, but cmon now! When she attacked Amy P. (Phil's wife) because of her feelings for Phil, that really made me realize what a mean person she could be. :(

Vicky - Oh me! I could go on and on about this poor girl! I will never forget her saying that the prize of a video home was not worth trying for. Geez, how wonderful. She also made that mean comment about Phil, right in front of everyone at the weigh in about as long as he doesn't come back on the ranch, it's ok! Does she not see how terrible it makes her look? I really don't care for her or her mean attitude and I would love to see her go home next! :0)

Colleen - Bless her heart, she looks awesome! She has such an adorable face and she really looks great, I think! Some times, I want to tell her to stop being so mean when they are doing the workouts. She yells she can't do it anymore and just throws a mini tantrum! I think that might be her being younger! She is really a doll though and you have to love her because you can see she has a heart that is as big as her body!!

Michelle - I like Michelle! She seems down to earth and genuine! I am glad her and her mom are back on a road to rebuilding their relationship! :0)

Renee - I like Renee as well! She has really showed up big in alot of challenges and I hope that she goes far. :)

Amy C. - I am super proud of Amy for going on her own last night and breaking out of the blue team's spell! I was worried she would not do it, but it looks like she is thinking about the big picture and that's what's important! I really hope Vicky does not tear her down next week like they did Phil. I believe the stress levels can really mess you in this game and Amy C needs to pull big numbers next week!

If I had it my way, Amy P or Phil would have won TBL but since they are both gone, I am for any one on the black team! :0)

Ok, so there you have it! My opinion on TBL. I a sorry if I offended anyone with my opinion of each castmate, they are just that, my opinions. May the best person win! :)

Tackle it Tuesday!

So this is my 1st ever Tackle it Tuesday post and it has nothing to do with housework, unless the lack thereof counts?!?!?!

Today the girls were out of school so we decided to take a trip to our Zoo! I have never lived close to a zoo in my life and believe it or not, did not go to one until I was in my LATE 20's! How sad is that huh?? So when we moved here, I knew the ZOO had to be on our TO DO list! :) We got up this morning and headed out! The weather was chilly but not unbearable! :) We found the zoo with no problems thanks to my wonderful GPS system that I praise on almost a daily basis for not getting me lost in this big city! We went right in and stopped for a short potty break before setting out to see all the animals! The Zoo was much bigger than I thought complete with a train and sea lion exhibit and much much more. My favorite was the monkeys! I almost wonder what it would be like to have a monkey for a pet! ;0) We saw lions and tigers but no bears, OH MY! We saw anacondas, rattlesnakes and alligators..ewwwww! The girls got to feed birds that would fly right up and land on you to drink the nectar out of your cup! That was a little too hands on for Emma and I, but Brooke LOVED it!! We saw camels, zebras, kangaroos and even pretty pink flamingos. :0) We had alot of fun and after we were all done, we went and had lunch (just us girls) :0) The girls had a blast, dipping their french fries in the queso dip! (My girls are not crazy about Mexican food like their momma, so they always order chicken fingers or cheeseburgers and their favorite thing is to dip their fries in the cheese dip! YUCK, if you ask me, but hey, what can it hurt?

So that is what I tackled this Tuesday! A trip to the zoo with my children all by myself! My hubby works long hours and it has always been me for the most part that has taken the kids to different things we wanted to do even vacations from time to time. It is not that he does not want to be there, I think he would love to be there, but the career he has, takes lots of time away from his family and neither of us want our kids to miss out on anything! He works hard for us to be able to do the things we do and it makes him happy to know we are out doing fun things even if he can't always come along! Here are some pictures I took today! Enjoy!!

Oh and PS: I promise my next Tackle it Tuesday will have to do with housework! ;0)
